Admission Policy and Credit Description The Institute of Italian Studies admits students of any race, color, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin, to all rights , privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the Institute. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, age, disability, sex or sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs. A rolling admission policy is followed. A student is considered for admission provided that the applicant is currently enrolled in a college or university or art school, is in a good academic standing (has achieved a G.P.A. of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale), has achieved at least sophomore status, and has received participation approval from his/her dean/academic advisor. Freshmen or independent non-college students wishing to participate in the Italy programs will be considered on an individual basis. Course load of 12-15/16 credit hours requires one course of Italian Language. Graduate level courses can be taken in the areas of Art History and Studio Art. Graduate students seeking graduate credits must currently be enrolled in a U.S. graduate program and have prior approval from their graduate advisor or Dean for courses that will be transferred and accepted as part of the students' programs. At the end of each semester the I.I.S. Registrar's Office will release a regular transcript of the student's courses and work. Grades lower than a C will not transfer as credits. Please consult the insert for details.
