Application Procedure

Each student must fill out the application form provided from the Institute of Italian Studies. The typical procedure for a student to study abroad includes a visit with their advisor to review their educational plans, a visit to the international study abroad office, and visits with any other faculty which have an impact on the student's education.

Once the student has fulfilled their school requirements to study abroad and has also met the eligibility requirements of the IIS program, the student will need to complete the application form. This would include obtaining the signed approval by their advisor, student's Dean, or International Program Director. A student is required to submit an essay, reference letter and transcript.

Students who are not currently enrolled are considered for admission upon completion of the application and reference statements. Reference statements include current employer or past instructors. Also, a statement from the student on their intent of studying abroad.

A student may enroll for summer sessions, semester, or yearlong program and will need to designate which program. Students are notified within 10 days after the application is received. Upon notice of their qualification, the student is sent a Student Agreement and Deposit Invoice to sign and return with a tuition deposit of $300.00. The tuition deposit is required in order to be accepted and enrolled and to activate the student's admission file. Upon enrollment, each student will receive a acceptance packet which includes semester course offerings, transcript request, program agreement, housing information, travel plans, visa information, and other instructions and resources. The Summer program requires the full tuition payment to be enrolled into the program.

At the completion of the semester term or summer term, students will receive a U.S. accredited transcript from Marist College which will be processed and sent to the student’s home institution. Students who are enrolled with IIS who’s home institution directly accept an IIS transcript, will also receive an official transcript after the term is completed.

Each application will need a photo I.D. attached and a non-refundable $35 application processing fee.
