Housing in Florence Fall and Spring

Option 1: Residence Apartments- Host Institution sponsored furnished efficiency apartment. Cost are per semester, per person. Cost includes: single or double within apartments for 3-4 bedroom apartment occupancy rooms, utilities (average), bathroom, kitchen, living room, bedding, basic furniture, cooking utensils, beds (single size). Apt. does not include: meals, towels, phone, internet, washing machine. Deposit required-$300. Apt. single per person per semester (Aug. 29 - Dec. 15) = $3,350. Double per person = $2,750 Centrally located to school, no smoking. Details, policies and contract in enrollment packet. Reservations on rolling basis in order received.

Option 2: Independent Housing Apartments- Students seek own housing arrangements through independent housing agencies. Student is responsible for contacting, contracting, arrangements and payment of this option. IIS does provide a referral list of agencies which students have used in the past. IIS will also provde independent list of students for those seeking roomates. This is the most popular option for students and it is the student's responsibility to complete this process and sign the IIS release form.

 


Housing in Tuscania Spring and Fall

In Tuscania, students have three options available for housing:

  • Independent housing (available under referral from a housing coordinator) 

  • Apartment: Double Room, Single on Request  (Utilities not included in housing cost).Approx. 160 -250 Euros monthly

  • La Torretta B& B(a local bed and breakfast or half board) furnished, one bedroom with bathrooms, daily linen change, in center of village, family run business. 15 -23 Euros daily per person double occupancy or 25 Euros for single

  • Hotel Tuscania (local three star hotel) - hotel style with bathroom, hotel service, dining area, patio overlooking town and valley.   25 - 35 Euros per day per person double occupancy or 30 Euros for single

All housing options are minutes walking distance from the school.

Housing in Rome Spring and Fall

For Rome housing please refer to Florence housing. Same two housing options exist. There will be a third option only in Rome, home stay. Home stay includes enrollment with an Italian family at their home an entire semester and an option for one or two meals a day.

ALL HOUSING OPTIONS ARE ON AVAILABILITY BASIS, FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. ALL COSTS ARE AT ESTIMATED RATES AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE ACCORDING TO EACH HOUSING OPTION'S CONTRACT.
 
Board: With the exception of housing with board, this fee is controlled by each student. Based on students' previous experiences during the last two semesters in Florence, it is estimated that students should budget themselves between $500. and $600 for board per month per student. The suggested costs can vary according to the personal eating habits, and the dollar exchange and/or changes in the Italian cost of living.

Personal Expenses: It is suggested that each student should have, in her/his personal budget about $1500.00 per semester, it depends on individual spending habits, for expenses such as texts or studio art materials, laundry, weekend trips, entertainment, special events, etc.
