Tuition Costs and Deposit Requirements

After you have filed your application with the Institute of Italian Studies, you will be notified of your qualification into the program. You will then have 21 days after the date of your notification letter to activate your enrollment. A $300 tuition deposit and the signed Student Agreement/Deposit Invoice form is due and required to be enrolled and for admission to be activated in the program. Tuition balance are due according to dates provided within the tuition agreement. All tuition, housing, and transportation fees must be paid in full on or before the stated deadlines.

I.I.S. reserves the right to increase the academic tuition, in the event that the Host Italian Institutions increase their tuition due primarily to the fluctuation in the Euro exchange rate.   The student will be notified, as well as his/her home institution, of any change in tuition fees prior to the start of the program and thus allowing the student to either continue in, or withdraw from the program as stated in the student agreement.


Tuition per semester based on a 12-16 semester credit load: $7,600

  • Registration fees

  • U.S. transcript (see student agreement for details)

  • Welcome & Farewell Reception/dinner

  • Permit of stay processing assistance

  • Detailed pre-departure and final instructions

  • On-site orientation/safety overview/guided walking tour

  • On-site Student Advising Service providing personal, academic, and support services

  • 24hr/7day a week on-call emergency assistance for students/parents in Italy and U.S.                                       

  • On-Campus Internet facility and computer lab or fees

  • On-Campus Library facility                                                       

  • Plan for Cell Phone delivered prior to departure (phone service or minutes not included)   

  • Organized Cultural/Social Activities throughout the semester included in activity fee                                         

  • Special interest clubs - Drama, Dance and Volunteer  

  • Referral service to physicians and advisor assistance to clinic 

  • International Student I.D. card issued by LDM

  • Basic emergency medical insurance plan and I.D. card valid for all of Italy hospital emergency rooms. Plan meets student visa requirements

  • Over 30 years of  affiliation with LDM by providing a safe, caring, experienced, and professional educational environment for students and their families.

The costs do not include:

  • Application fee $35

  • Student Visa processing

  • Lab and material fees

  • Discounted Group rate

  • Insurance

  • Books and personal expenses

FINANCIAL AID, SCHOLARSHIPS, OR STUDENT LOANS

Students who presently receive financial aid, scholarships, or student loans can make arrangements with their home institution's Financial Aid office to have those funds transferred to the Florence/Tuscania Programs. IIS and Marist College will not process financial aid consortium agreement for students that are not under a full time degree program. IIS requires written approval by the student's home institution and by Marist/IIS in order to process any financial aid agreements prior to the final payment deadline.
